Kindness has sprung in to action!!!

                   ❤ KINDNESS for PBL in my hub! ❤

We created and Action plan and It went very smooth sailing. 
We had It rough at the start and we wanted to do a bake sale but out teacher's said we can't do things then make people pay us money for it because remember, ..... KINDNESS IS FREE!!!

For our final product we did A FUN ZONE

What is the fun zone?

well...it is when five students from each hub get to go to fun activities if they have been kind and respectful---and just well behaved.

they get a ticket and then they go to the front court to play! (only if their kind though)

How did our action build a sense of community?
It is rewarding those who have been respectful! (so they don't feel like being good is a waste of time) and I also met new people.

Well..I actually came up with the idea of the fun zone. I also helped come up with the date and organised where it would be held.  On the day, I ran the sniffing game and people loved it! The sniffing game is where you blind for them, hold something up for them to smell and they have to guess what it is.

Maybe the people that got to do it will come up with a idea to help someone else #paying kindness forward

Don't raise your voice and try to let everyone have a say in things 💬

Term Four Project Based Learning

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.

S for Science

T for Technology

E for Engineering

A for the Arts

and M for Math's

Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.

Then make a table that was able to balance M&Ms for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because the materials was great we used the news paper as table legs it was very stable

In Literacy we learned to write up science experiment to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.

How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My highlight from this PBL (project base learning)was working as a team and  Next time I
would try to make the bath bombs less crumbly

Project Based Learning and The Arts

       This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was;

What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. Culture is what country you are from and you normally have tradition’s for example Spanish their tradition is on November 1st they do “day of the dead” and sugar skull’s are a main part of that-
Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage. I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.

In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated on Maori legends. I read the Battle of the Mountains and I have written my own legend called The sun the sky and the moons battle I retold the legend of the battle of the mountain's except different people

We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script, some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organizing the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama.

And I am Pihanga the female mountain  and I play the guitar

In tumu hub we are learning about “THE BATTLE OF THE MOUNTIN’S   The story The story goes that in the days when the earth was young there were four mountain warriors: Tongariro, Taranaki (Mt Egmont), Tauhara and Pūtauaki (Mt Edgecumbe). There was also the beautiful maiden mountain, Pīhanga. The warrior mountains fought for her affections, and after a long battle Tongariro emerged the winner.

The defeated mountains decided that they should leave Tongariro’s domain. They were to travel as far as they could before dawn, when the rising sun would fix them to the spot. Pūtauaki headed east and by daybreak reached his present position at Kawerau. Tauhara travelled slowly, all the time looking back longingly at Pīhanga; he only reached the other end of the lake. Taranaki went west and still looks back, hoping for the day when he might return to avenge his defeat. Meanwhile, Pīhanga became the wife of Tongariro, and they had a child named Pukeronaki  The end

   In the tumu hub is st Francis of Assisi 2018 school 🏫 we have been learning about  culture 🎇 and today I will show you  what MY 👧 culture is....

what is your tradition?....   every Easter I go for a Easter egg hunt one we collected all of  then I eat them with my family  and every Christmas I leave Santa some cookies and milk  by the chimney
